Assassin’s Creed 3 and Liberation cross play possibility

With just over a month until the release of Assassin’s Creed 3 and AC3 Liberation it’s obvious that Ubisoft will now start to shift the marketing of both titles up a gear, which is why they have just released a bunch of new screenshots. However, the most interesting part is how these new screens seem to hint at the possibility of cross play.

If this is the case then the two titles will be integrated much closer than we had first assumed, which can only help the PS Vita, which as we know has not been doing as well as Sony had hoped. In one of the new images that you can see above you can clearly see Connor and Aveline fighting the enemy back-to-back, surely this means that both protagonists will be fighting side-by-side?

Asssassin's Creed 3: Liberation a strong contender for PS Vita GOTY

As one of the few owners of Sony's PS Vita handheld console, I've been rather disappointed by the system's lack of solid original titles. Unfortunately the drought doesn't look like it'll be ending anytime soon, with the only PS Vita news coming out of the recent Tokyo Game Show being the lackluster announcement of two new console color schemes.

Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation preview: personality, conflict

The task facing Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation may be more daunting than the high expectations of Assassin's Creed 3. The series has never really found a portable home, forcing the game to face double-duty in both subverting negative reactions and living up to the legacy. In an extended hands-on demo of the game, my own skepticism faded and was replaced by hope that the positive signs it shows so far are true indication of its potential.

To all appearances, Liberation may as well be a member of the main series. Ubisoft has figured some way to wring pretty astounding visuals out of the device. While the streets of New Orleans are slightly less occupied than we've seen in the major franchise titles, the city is still lively and bustling. It's not the emaciated community present in the PSP Bloodlines.

Why I’m Not Offended by Assassin’s Creed: Liberation’s Costume Mode

Gamescom (probably Europe’s biggest gaming convention and trade show) was this past week, meaning that lots of new goodies were revealed about upcoming releases. Ubisoft, of course, was there and revealed a lot of new trailers and details about both upcoming Assassin’s Creed 3 games. It was revealed that in Liberation, Assasin’s Creed’s first female protagonist, Aveline de Grandpre, would have access to various costume changing areas throughout New Orleans, which would allow her to change her garb to allow easier access to restricted areas. While it is kind of annoying that the girl of course gets this feature—and yes, one of the costume options is for a slave or servant—I’m not terribly up in arms about it, at least not as much as a lot of people seem to be. Here’s why.

Who is Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation's Aveline? Producer, Martin Capel, Gives Us Some Details

At E3 you were introduced to the world Aveline. Yet we don't know much about her, could you please provide more background information onLiberations' protagonist? The story of Aveline is the story of Liberation, so we can't reveal everything just yet as I don't want to give away too many spoilers!

What I can tell you about Aveline is that she is of mixed heritage - her father is French and her mother African. She is born of a form of temporary marriage called plaçage, where wealthy young men would typically take an African, Chinese or Native American women for a bride before they later found a more "acceptable" French bride. Plaçage was created because not enough French women could be persuaded to immigrate to the New World, and resulted in many children. Some of the children were pressed into slavery, while others were truly loved by their fathers, and were raised and educated with all the benefits that their father's wealth could bring.

Dressing Up Like A Slave And Whipping Your Enemies In Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation (SPOILERS)

Last week at Ubisoft, in addition to playing through a big honking naval battle in the full console version of Assassin's Creed III, I also had a chance to get my hands on its portable Vita counterpart, Assassin's Creed III: Liberation.

In the portable game, players take on the role of Aveline de Grandpré, a female assassin in 1700's New Orleans, and the first female protagonist of an Assassin's Creed game. I played the game for the first time, during which time I navigated a bayou and killed some dudes, and I also watched a hands-off (no touching!) portion in which Aveline donned a number of costumes and infiltrated a Spanish base.

This one had enough going on that it'll probably be easiest to just bullet-point it. So, let's start with the hands-off infiltration section.

Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation’s head writer walks me through a demo

At the same Sony event where we sampled PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, I took a look at Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation, the Assassin’s Creed spin-off title for the PS Vita from developer Ubisoft Sofia. And that was all I got, unfortunately: a look. Due to its shaky pre-alpha state, Richard Farrese, the game’s writer, preferred to tell me all about the game as he played through a short demo. I watched and listened.

First, he explained the setting: ”Louisiana, 18th century. The game starts in 1765. The French colony [New Orleans] is being handed over to the Spanish. It’s a really exciting time.”

'Assassin's Creed III: Liberation' brings full experience to PS Vita

As if one new "Assassin's Creed" game is not enough, Ubisoft Sofia (a production branch of parent company, Ubisoft) has developed "Assassin's Creed III: Liberation" exclusively for the PlayStation Vita. Expanding on the American Revolution time period fans are eagerly anticipating in "Assassin's Creed III,"the game will feature a completely new storyline with a completely new main character and all new locations. It truly stands on its own from Connor's New England adventures, but "Liberation" has been announced to be released at the same time (October 30, 2012).

If you paid attention in history class, you are probably familiar with various Revolutionary War locations on the east coast, especially if you live here in Boston, MA. The city is flooded with history including the infamous Boston Tea Party of 1773 and the Boston Massacre which is considered the first battle of the Revolution. In all likelihood, events such as these will be explored in the main "Assassin's Creed III," but the war did not just take place in New England. "Assassin's Creed III: Liberation" takes us to another history soaked city often overlooked when discussing the American Revolution, New Orleans.
