Assassin's Creed III Liberation PlayStation Vita Commercial

Not to be outdone by its big-brother, Sony has also released the TV commercial for Assassin's Creed Liberation for the PlayStation Vita. Y'know, just in case you didn't know there's a full-blown spin-off of Assassin's Creed 3 hitting its fledgling handheld console. I have to admit, that didn't show much when it comes to the actual gameplay. But seeing as it is a TV spot, it's to be expected, no?

Can this game finally be the PlayStation Vita's "savior" when it comes to its software library? We'll know soon enough as Assassin's Creed 3 Liberation will hit store shelves on October 30...yep, the same day as its Xbox 360 and PS3 counterparts. If you're looking to buy a PS Vita and Assassin's Creed 3 Liberation, there's also a bundle for that coming out that will bundle the game with a new crystal white Wi-Fi PS Vita. [SOURCE]

#Discussion: Women of Color in Videogames

Have you ever noticed that most of the women of color in videogames are not exactly… natural colors? There are lots of prominent representations of women of color in video games. The problem is, those women tend to be blue or purple or green.

Women of unnatural skin colors are a staple of sci-fi and fantasy genres. Fictional races of colorful women tend to be more sexualized than the others. I’ve wondered if the unnatural skin color makes it easier to other them and treat them like sexual objects. That could be an issue, or it could simply be that the Asari are modeled on the Twi-leks who are modeled on the Orion Slave Girls. My boyfriend pointed out that easiest way to make a race ‘alien’ but keep them ‘sexy’ is to merely change their skin color, and that’s very true and probably a contributing factor.

Assassin’s Creed 3 Liberation: What We Know

Assassin’s Creed 3: Liberation has a lot to prove. When the game releases alongside Assassin’s Creed 3 on Oct. 30, gamers will finally be able to see if the PS Vita can deliver the best portable Assassin’s Creed experience ever. Even though Liberation is nearly here, Ubisoft has been quite silent on many elements of the game. What has been seen so far, though, looks quite promising; so let’s take a look at what players can be excited about.

This is where we all, no matter what race we are, need to learn how to empathize with each other. If there is no understanding, there can be no solution to anything. Especially, with racism in the gaming community.
