Ubisoft has released the newest trailer for their Assassin's Creed 3 tie-in Liberation, exclusive to the PlayStation Vita. The 'Accolades' trailer features Aveline, a French-African assassin, in the midst of the Louisiana Rebellion -- a precursor to the American Revolution and the eventual Louisiana Purchase made by the newly formed United States. While gameplay is meant to be the focus of the trailer, its Aveline herself and the historical setting that prove most intriguing.

Aveline, you see, is the daughter of a French merchant and an African slave, living in New Orleans and a victim of plaçage -- the practice of pairing women of color with French or Spanish men in a "left-handed" wedding. How this social hurdle plays out in the midst of the rebellion, in addition to Aveline's recruitment into the assassins, seems extremely interesting.

Briefly near the end of the trailer we see Aveline dressed in her masculine assassin gear, but then see her dress flash between more impoverished clothing and then more regal fancy dress. Whether this implies a disguise mechanism in-game, or simply Aveline's social progression as a character, only time will tell.

Get excited, Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation looks to be one of the best, if not the best, offering on the PlayStation Vita. It will release consequently with Assassin's Creed 3 on October 30, 2012.
